When the owner of the plant touches the leaves, the leaves fold up, and the plant shrinks in size.

Known as the Mimosa Pudica, scientists speculate that the reason for this physiological response could be to dissuade herbivores from consuming the plant. Another speculation is that bugs would fall off the plant if the plant shrunk, minimizing damage harmful bugs could do to the plant.
