Former President George W. Bush had an interesting reaction to President Donald Trump’s inauguration, reportedly saying, “That was some weird shit,” after Trump’s swearing-in ceremony concluded.

According to New York Magazine, at least three people sitting near former President Bush heard him make the comment.

Bush attended the event with his wife, Laura, as well as three other former presidents and first ladies, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barack and Michelle Obama, and Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter.

Bush’s father and mother, George H.W. and Barbara Bush, did not attend the inauguration, citing the former president’s age of 92 as the reason for skipping the event.

Bush’s decision to attend the inauguration was also up in the air until a couple of weeks before the inauguration, which wasn’t a surprise considering how Trump went after the former president and his brother, Jeb Bush, during the campaign.

A statement released by Bush’s office in early January said that the former president and first lady were “pleased to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power — a hallmark of American democracy — and swearing-in of President Trump and Vice President Pence.”
