In the blink of an eye, a husband tragically lost his wife after a pickup truck crashed into their home

LAKELAND, Fla. — A 76-year-old Florida woman was killed early Thursday when a pickup truck crashed into her home.

Janice Folds of Lakeland died when a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado crashed into the exterior brick wall of the house and continued through a front bedroom before coming to a stop in the kitchen, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

Judd said the pickup was driven by 24-year-old Ryan Tallent of Plant City, Florida.

Folds was in the guest room at 4:45 a.m. when the truck plowed into the home, Grady said. Her husband, the Rev. Wyatt Folds, was only a few feet away when she was hit.

Judd said Tallent was speeding when he lost control of his truck.

Tallent has been charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI refusal-2nd or subsequent offense, and no seat belt, Grady said.
