Megyn Kelly, a fixture of the Fox News network and one of the most-watched women in news media, is departing the network at the end of the month, says NBC and sources close to negotiations between her, Fox News, and NBC.
Kelly will join NBC News with an array of responsibilities, including host of a daytime news and talk show, a Sunday night prime-time news show, and regular roles in NBC’s special national event and political coverage. As host of “The Kelly File,” Kelly successfully built the show into one of the most-watched news and talk programs in the United States.
“Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career,” says Andrew Lack, chairman of the NBCUniversal news group, in a statement released today. “She’s generated tremendous skill and poise, and we’re lucky to have her.”
No timeline has been announced yet. Kelly’s contract at Fox News runs through summer 2017. She began working at Fox News in 2004.
