On Saturday morning, President Donald Trump made some shocking claims on his Twitter account. He claimed that the phones at Trump Tower had been tapped by former President Obama. The claims, while surprising, weren’t backed up by any evidence. Trump didn’t provide a news story, a source or anything else that would make his claims credible.

He called the alleged wiretapping a “new low” and that it was “McCarthyism.”

Later in the day, best-selling author Stephen King, who has been a longtime critic of Trump, took to Twitter to poke fun at Trump’s tweets, writing in his first tweet, “Not only did Obama tap Trump’s phones, he stole the strawberry ice cream out of the mess locker.”

He followed up his original tweet with another tweet that created a humorous mental image, writing, “Obama tapped Trump’s phones IN PERSON! Went in wearing a Con Ed coverall. Michelle stood guard while O spliced the lines. SAD!”

Later in the day, he sent out another tweet, adding a layer to his “story,” writing, “Trump should know OBAMA NEVER LEFT THE WHITE HOUSE! He’s in the closet! HE HAS SCISSORS!”
