Steve Harvey, known for his jovial attitude and at times self-deprecating sense of humor while hosting “Family Feud,” is in hot water with the internet for the jokes he made on the “Steve Harvey Show” last Friday about Asian men.
The jokes came after a photo of “How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men” — which, yes, is an actual book — popped up on the screen.
Harvey is being criticized for saying that the book should have been one page long and for making this mock conversation between an Asian man and a white woman — ‘Excuse me, do you like Asian men?’ ‘No. Thank you.’
The host then said that the book were about a how to date a black woman it would also be one page long, and that Asian man should expect the same results. “‘You like Asian men?’ ‘I don’t even like Chinese food, boy. It don’t stay with you no time. I don’t eat what I can’t pronounce.'”
Some have pointed out that an Asian woman who was in the front row was laughing.
Others on the internet have responded by coming to the defense of Asian man as attractive, condemning the jokes as racist and firing back at Harvey.
Under a video Harvey posted on Facebook to support his partnership with Green Dot, people were not talking about the product but of their embarrassment.
Then there was this.
The controversy comes as Harvey deals with a lawsuit over a tape that purports to show Harvey going off on a racist tirade about white people.
Harvey has called the accusations made by Joseph Cooper an extortion campaign.
