Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” King reacted to the recent controversy over Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ contact with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the 2016 campaign. Similar actions led to the early resignation of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
King said that he did not wish to participate in a whitewash or a witch hunt of the administration’s odd relationship with Russia, a sentiment he credited to colleague Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

When Scarborough asked King what he thought of yet another member of President Trump’s administration having undisclosed communication with Russia, King said that the president was playing Jedi mind tricks.

“The denials remind me of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the first ‘Star Wars.’ Remember when he says âthese arenât the droids youâre looking forâ and they go on by?” King joked.
At another point in the interview, King said that “perjury is a very serious charge.” He said he believes that Sessions should “try to clarify what he said and what he meant:”
