Though a spokesman for Obama denied the unverified claim, the Trump administration called for an investigation into the matter.

The accusations took many by surprise — a sitting president making such an unsubstantiated claim about a living president. Even the ladies of ABC’s “The View” weighed in.

Taking a short break from their Disney World vacation, the co-hosts gathered around the table to discuss the whirlwind weekend.

“I’d be thinking Obama was packing, trying to get out of there,” Whoopi Goldberg joked.

Sunny Hostin argued that the president was unable to ask for the surveillance of a United States citizen. Instead, Hostin assured that the president would have to go through an FBI agent and argue their reasoning before a federal judge.

Earlier, FBI Director James B. Comey urged the Justice Department to reject the claim, as any other action would implicate it in wrongdoing.

Jedediah Bila said that there was a point to made if the wiretap was done legally, but that she still had an issue with Trump’s claims, including one that suggested Obama himself set up surveillance.

“That’s a very serious charge,” Bila concluded, saying that Trump perhaps should not have tweeted about the incident.

Joy Behar commended Obama for being “completely scandal-free.”

“I don’t know about that,” Bila challenged.
