An Idaho-based company has developed a specialized shotgun shell to apparently help “prepare for the drone apocalypse”.

Snake River Shooting Products, based out of Emmett, Idaho, manufactures a premium lead-free shotgun shell which it claims will effectively disable a drone. The 3-inch, 12-gauge, shells come in two versions: BB lead free and 2 shot lead free.

Casey Betzold, president of Snake River Shooting Products, told the Daily Mail:

“We are very excited to be manufacturing a product focused on defending our freedoms.”

Legal experts warn that shooting down a drone can be a federal offense. The FAA has historically identified drones as aircraft and shooting at one may be a violation of federal code 18 §32, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

Popular Mechanics claims that the ammo isn’t necessarily better for shooting down drones, but the branding is drawing attention.
