Nobody is singing the praises of this Illinois high school choir director after he was arrested on allegations of having sex with two former female students and supplying them with alcohol in his home.
Justin Hubly, 35, had been the choir director at Crystal Lake High School since 2004. Hopefully his alleged creepiness hadn’t gone on and gone unreported for all these years. He was arrested and charged on Tuesday after police started investigating him in October thanks to a staff member in the school’s district alerting them to the allegations.
Arrest warrants were issued for Hubly for two counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of unlawful delivery of alcoholic liquor. He was released from custody after posting $10,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 27.
Hubly allegedly provided the two girls with alcohol and engaged in sexual activities with them at his house. According to Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Tom Kotlowski, the two girls had already graduated at the time of the incidents.
Hubly was suspended by the school district in October, and he resigned on Nov. 8. The school described his departure at the time as a personal matter.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Community High School District 155 said: “We have taken appropriate actions to ensure there is no interruption in our students’ learning. We are also cooperating with local authorities.”
Police said Hubly could still face additional charges.
