Have you taken a look at your child’s school lunch lately? While First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Lets Move” campaign is designed to fight childhood obesity, her mandated portion sizes are leaving some parents worried.

Thanks to the quality of many cafeterias around the country, the food that kids are being given at lunch is at the very least, less than appetizing. Some parents and students have hit Twitter to share photos of their school lunches to “thank” Michelle Obama for looking out for them.

According to the Lets Move government website, here is what these lunches should consist of and look like.

More whole grains, fruits, and vegetables; low-fat milk dairy products; and less sodium and fat.

The right portion. Menus are planned for grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12 and will demonstrate to your child the right size portions.

Additional funding will be made available to schools that meet the new standards. Schools will be reimbursed an additional 6 cents for each lunch they serve in accordance with the new standards.

Thanks Michelle.
