George Clooney is ready to talk about becoming a father!

Just weeks ago, Clooney and his wife, Amal announced they are expecting twins, and the father-to-be couldn’t be more excited!

Over the weekend, Clooney sat down with French journalist Laurent Weil for an interview on “Rencontres de Cinema.” The 55-year-old actor couldn’t stop beaming when asked about the news.

“We are really happy and really excited. It’s going to be an adventure,” he said. “We’ve sort of embraced it all… with arms wide open.”

Clooney also revealed what happened when he told a few close “supportive” friends about the news.

“It got really quiet,” he remembered. “And they all just started making baby crying noises, and the whole table just busted up laughing.”

Clooney also made a joke about his age as a first-time dad. He isn’t sweating it and said that he looks up to 89-year-old French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, who welcomed a child with his second wife, Nathalie Tardivel, when he was 70.

PEOPLE confirms that the couple are expecting twins, a boy and a girl, this spring.

A source close to the couple told the magazine that Clooney’s “going to be the best dad.”
