After nearly a decade away, Katie Couric returned to co-host “TODAY” with Matt Lauer

On Monday, Couric returned to her “TODAY” roots when she joined Matt Lauer as a co-host for the day. Couric is reportedly signed on for the week and fans couldn’t be more excited!

“Welcome back to Studio 1A, January 1997, apparently?” Lauer joked in the beginning of the broadcast.

“It just feels like I never left,” Couric said.

The duo shared a funny throwback of themselves together on Lauer’s first day in 1997.

On Sunday, Couric shared her excitment to return to the show with fans on Twitter.

Sharing a photo of her alarm set for 4:30 a.m. the following morning, she wrote, “Seriously? See you early and hopefully bright! #todaytomorrow.”
