They walk alike, they dress alike, and they even like the same video games. Who knew that they’d both be splashing around the local swimming pool in Washington, MO., on the same day, only to discover that they were brothers?


Isaac Nolting and Dakotah Zimmer sure didn’t.

One June day, as they were splashing around and having fun in the pool, some of the other kids noticed that the two boys looked a lot a like. One even asked if they were brothers, and Dakotah explained that he did have a brother he had never met before, and who was adopted by a woman named Dawn.

Isaac’s mom’s name is Dawn, and that night he sat her down for a talk and asked if he was adopted. She told him it was true, and they both burst into tears.

“I just cried and cried and cried,” Isaac told TODAY.com. “I was so happy that I had a brother. I always asked for one.”

Dakota has lived with the boys’ maternal grandmother Debi Bay, only 20 minutes away, for more than a decade.
