Brooke Mueller is doing well.

Mueller’s mother, Moira Wolofsky Fiore is speaking out in her daughter’s defense after she had a very public meltdown last week with her twin sons.

“The boys are with me now and they are doing great,” Fiore told PEOPLE. “They are both in school here in Utah.”

Last Tuesday, Mueller wandered in a Salt Lake City bar barefoot with her children and their nanny. She reportedly got into an altercation with the nanny and fled the scene after cops were called. The Salt Lake City police eventually tracked her down and the kids were taken into the care of family members. It was later reported that Mueller had been hospitalized following the incident.

According to her mother, Mueller has been struggling with substance abuse and mental health problems for years. Fiore reportedly has physical custody of the children, Bob and Max, 7 and is sharing legal custody with their father, Charlie Sheen.

“Charlie is happy when he is with the boys, and when he is not with them, he talks to them nightly before they go to sleep,” Fiore said. “The boys are fine.”
