Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, are celebrating 69 years of marriage on Nov. 20. The royal couple was married on this day in 1947.
On their wedding day, Queen Elizabeth was only 21 years old and still learning what she needed to know to take the throne. Prince Philip was 26 and had just returned home from serving in the Second World War.
This year, Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 90th birthday, while Prince Philip rang in his 95th birthday. Next year, the royal couple will celebrate their 70th platinum anniversary.

So, how will they celebrate? According to the INQUISTR, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip will be celebrating together with a low-key evening at their home in Windsor Castle. Some friends and family are rumored to make an appearance, but it won’t be a big celebration like the Queen’s birthday.
She reportedly fell in love with Prince Philip as a teenager during a visit to the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. She also caught Prince Philip’s eye, because he reportedly tried to show off for the young Princess, hoping should would look his way. Eight short years later, they were married.
