Thomas Gibson has officially ended his career on “Criminal Minds.”
The actor was fired from the show earlier this year after he allegedly got into a physical altercation with one of the show’s writers in July. Before he was let go, Gibson had already filmed several episodes of the new season of the show, and fans have been waiting to see how they would handle his departure.
On Wednesday night, Gibson’s final episode aired.
Most of the episode focused on J.J.’s (A. J. Cook) interest’s in the Behavioral Analysis Unit’s latest case involving a man who likes to burn his victims. The episode followed J.J. as she looked back on one of those nights and shared details of the investigation with her husband, Bill.
Gibson, who played Aaron Hotchner, and other characters Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) and David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) sat a table discussing the case. Gibson had limited dialogue throughout the episode, and his few lines consisted of asking for data from Penelope (Kirsten Vangsness) and telling J.J. to take some time off of work.
“It’s not a request,” was the final line Gibson spoke on the series.
He was a series regular since the show started in 2005.
