Prince Harry’s relationship with “Suits” actress Meghan Markle has swept the internet and placed the world in a royal-induced stupor. Unfortunately, since news of the courtship, Markle has been the fascination of paparazzi both in the U.S. and abroad. She went to meet the royal family last week, and Harry expressed his frustration with the media circus surrounding the couple. Kensington Palace (where Markle stayed while in England) recently issued a statement confirming their relationship.
The Evening Standard reported that Harry is considering hiring a “Scotland Yard Personal Protection Officer to shadow Miss Markle when she is in the UK.” It would hardly be necessary for Markle to get extended protection in the United States, since she is already under constant media scrutiny. And the DailyMail reported that Markle found Henry’s idea “charming but unnecessary.”
Prince Harry’s father, Charles, also hired a private eye to watch over the Duchess of Cornwall before they were married. But that was not until much later in their relationship — Meghan and Harry have only been dating for a couple of months. While it is not likely that the royals’ personal guard would be extended to watch over Markle, it is possible that Harry would hire a private bodyguard to shadow her. The late Princess Diana’s bodyguard reportedly told the Evening Standard that such an expense would cost around $50,000.
