Things are quickly getting real between Prince Harry and his girlfriend and “Suits” star Meghan Markle.
While the couple has been in the public eye and has been viewed in negative light, Markle, 35, took to Twitter on Friday to thank her loved ones and all that have supported her, regardless of the racist and sexist comments that have recently spread about the half-black actress.
Markle tweeted, “Sending extra love to Emily, Sol, Domi, Hannah, Sih, Doris, Jessy Scarlett and all of you who have been so supportive. I’ve missed you guys <3,” along with a quote by Mahatama Gandhi that read, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Earlier this month, Kensington Palace issued a statement about Prince Harry and Markle, confirming their relationship which said:
“The past week has seen a line crossed. His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public — the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.”
The statement went on to discuss how reporters, photographers and the public have negatively impacted their lives and lives as a couple.
“It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm,” the statement went on to say. “He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game.’ He strongly disagrees. This is not a game — it is her life and his.”
