On Wednesday morning, President-elect Donald Trump held a press conference to discuss recent allegations that he has been politically compromised by the Russian government. This is the first press conference Donald Trump has held since July. Trump’s last press conference occurred when he called on Russia to hack his political rival, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
BuzzFeed News, CBS News and CNN were among several outlets who published information that is alleged to have come from a dossier on Trump compiled by members of international intelligence communities.
Among the unsubstantiated allegations were implications that Russia withheld information about Trump in an effort to help his presidency. Other more salacious anecdotes, such as an allegation that Trump had paid prostitutes to urinate on a bed once slept in by the first couple, quickly lit up the Internet with jokes and skepticism.
In a tweet on Thursday morning, Trump categorized the allegations as nonsense.
“Russia just said the unverified report paid for by political opponents is “A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FABRICATION, UTTER NONSENSE.” Very unfair!” Trump said.
During his press conference on Wednesday, where the majority of his senior staff was present, Trump explained that all allegations against him in regards to Russia are false.
Trump quickly categorized the reports from BuzzFeed News as nonsense and thanked some media outlets for not following “fake news.”
“I have great respect for the news and freedom of the press and all of that,” Trump said. “There were some news organizations…that were so professional…that I’ve just gone up a notch about what I think of you.”
Trump later explained that he will soon announce more American companies that plan to keep jobs in the United States instead of outsourcing them to other countries.
“I think a lot of industries will be coming back,” Trump said.
The president-elect then called for a reform of the pharmaceutical industry, and stated that “pharma” had too much power.
