At the first presidential debate of the 2016 election cycle on Monday evening, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton brought up her opponent’s negative comments about women throughout his public life.

Clinton brought up past comments Trump has made about women regarding their looks, including comments he has made about actress Rosie O’Donnell.

Former Secretary Clinton did not mention Rosie O’Donnell by name, yet Trump felt the need to bring her up.

“I’ve said very tough things to her, and I think that everybody would agree that she deserves it, and nobody feels sorry for her,” Trump said.

Shortly after his comments, friends of O’Donnell took to Twitter to apologize on Trump’s behalf and express that Rosie should never have been dragged into a political debate.
