During his speech honoring Aretha Franklin at the “In Performance at the White House: Women of Soul” concert, President Barack Obama proved that spelling isn’t really his strong suit.

“When Aretha first told us what ‘R-S-P-E-C-T’ meant to her, she had no idea it would become a rallying cry for African-Americans, and women and then everyone who felt marginalized because of what they looked like or who they loved. They wanted some respect,” Obama said amid peals of laughter from the audience.

If President Obama wants any respect, he should probably retake first grade spelling.
