Today, Neal Boortz muses on the English language.

From the words proggies to bolshoi — words out of his own head — and the difference between imply and infer, Boortz has all the answers.

But the most interesting of all was the difference between the words complete and finished.

Last year a linguistic conference was held in London, England, and attended by some of the preeminent linguists of the world. A contest took place to find the best explanation of the difference.

Supposedly, a Guyanese man named Samsundar Balgobin won and gave the following answer:

“When you marry the right woman, you are complete. But, when you marry the wrong woman, you are finished. And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are completely finished!”

“I don’t care if it’s true or not, I think it’s funny,” Boortz said.
