New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has taken a beating the last week as the national media continues to cover and recover every possible angle of the story.
Cable news shows have spent the majority of their coverage on the controversy, while sadly avoiding other stories of importance.
There was a shooting at a New Mexico middle school Tuesday, with two children hurt. Normally these are stories that get the liberal media riled up with more talks of gun control. But not this time.
2. Federal Reserve taper
The Federal Reserve is expected to start tapering their quantitative easing program that injects $80 billion a month into the financial system. Critics of the program argue QE props up Wall Street institutions and is obtrusive government interference into the market place, but a taper gone-wrong could pose very damaging to the U.S. economy and lead to massive inflation if not done carefully.
3. Policeman shoots man for texting during a movie
A father was texting his daughter during a movie, and wound up dead after being shot by 71-year-old retired police officer. “The shooting Monday during a 1:20 p.m. showing of “Lone Survivor” at a Wesley Chapel, Florida, movie theater escalated from an objection to cell phone use, to a series of arguments, to the sudden and deadly shooting,” CNN reports.
4. The U.S. just entered a secret agreement with Iran
“Key elements of a new nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers are contained in an informal, 30-page text not yet publicly acknowledged by Western officials, Iran’s chief negotiator said Monday,” The Los Angeles Times reports.
5. Obama will address NSA reforms Friday
The president will announce reforms to the National Security Agency Friday to hopefully curb the extent of the agency’s surveillance. His powers, however, has limits which may affect
