It’s hard to believe the 9/11 terrorist attacks happened 15 years ago. Just about everyone can tell you in detail what they were doing when they heard the news that hijacked planes had hit the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley was a high school student sitting in Spanish class that morning.

He tells Rare Country, “[I was] just really confused. I remember hearing little bit of stories. We were in class and switching periods and not really getting the full story. Just remember it being a terrible tragedy. Just out of control, man. Our hearts just dropped, man.”


Our conversation with FGL took place in New York City as part of the launch of the duo’s new album, “Dig Your Roots.” Being there so close to the anniversary of 9/11, you couldn’t help but think of all of those who lost their lives on that day.

“Thoughts and prayers still,” Brian says. “Mad respect to those firefighters. The NYPD and everybody that helped and responded. No doubt.”
