Former Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), author of the infamous Wastebook, a report on government spending, briefly jumped back into the national political scene to criticize Trump’s social media habits.

Appearing on a Monday segment of CNN’s “New Day,” Coburn refused to take either man’s side:

“I think it’s unfortunate that Rep. John Lewis said that he’s not legitimate, because there’s no basis in fact for that,” Coburn said, referencing the words that sparked the fight.

Coburn then said, “The point is at some point in time the president is going to have to turn to become more presidential and that’s not presidential.”

Coburn also had some ideas for more positive ways the conversation between the two could have gone.
