It all happened on a CTA bus in Chicago at around 1 p.m.
Caleb Russell, 27, allegedly attempted to flirt with a 48-year-old female bus passenger on Wednesday, but when she wouldn’t engage in the interaction, Russell began to hit her with a bag of frozen chicken, according to Assistant State Attorney Erin Antonietti, DNA Info reported.
Russell continued his fit of rage and went after the 52-year-old male bus driver who had stopped the bus to try to help put an end to the attack. According to court records, Russell also beat he driver with the frozen bag of chicken while kicking him over and over again.
According to DNA Info, the driver has a broken jaw. He also lost a tooth and needs to get corrective gum surgery.
Russell was later arrested and charged with aggravated battery to a transit employee and battery. According to court testimony, he was taken for a psychiatric evaluation at a local hospital.
Apparently it’s not the first time Russell has gotten into trouble on a CTA bus. According to DNA Info, in 2014 he made a false bomb threat on a bus, saying “jihad against the white devil,” and was sentenced to two years in prison for doing so.
Russell’s bail is set at $100,000, according to DNA Info.
