NEW ORLEANS, La. — One person is dead and nine others hurt after a shooting on New Orleans’ Bourbon Street, police said early Sunday.

The shooting took place after the Bayou Classic, an annual college football game between the Grambling State University Tigers and the Southern University Jaguars.

According to WDSU, gunfire erupted about 1:30 a.m. at Bourbon and Iberville streets. Ten people were shot, one fatally, police said.

4:55 a.m. ET Nov. 27: Two men were arrested at the scene on charges that they were illegally carrying firearms, said New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison. The Advocate reports that one of those men was a shooting victim.

The victims include eight men and two women who range from 20 to 37 years old, The Advocate reports. The victim who died was male, police said.
