A Somalian airline was interrupted by what was described as an “explosion,” sucked a passenger right out of the plane. No other passengers were harmed by the explosion and the 64-year-old Serbian pilot was able to turn around and land the plane.

Passengers reported hearing a bang.

It is believed that the plane had no issues with flying or “violent decompression” because the explosion occurred while it was still in its climb.

According to aviation experts CBS News spoke with, this was clearly a bomb.

“That’s a bomb. That hole is caused by a bomb,” aviation consultant Denny Kelly said. “They’ll be able to tell that, or they probably already know.”

But Somali officials said Wednesday there this isn’t any evidence yet that proves this was a dud bombing attempt.

The passenger that was sucked out of the plane has been found. He was a 60-year-old man and there were burns on his body.

Somali diplomat Awake Kullane was on the plane and filmed after the explosion. He said those moments were harrowing.

“We saw a hole in the plane and the first thing you think about is can we make it,” he said. “It was really traumatising and those first few minutes I thought, ‘can we make it?'”
