Congratulations to Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy!

On Tuesday night, Hernandez and Chmerkovskiy took home the “Dancing with the Stars” Mirror Ball after a great season in the ballroom.

Hernandez and Chmerkovskiy were fan favorites from the beginning. The Olympic gold medalist and her partner took the season by storm and dazzled the judges from the first time they stepped on to the dance floor.

On Tuesday, Hernandez danced in the holiday themed finale with the remaining contestants, James Hinchecliffe and Calvin Johnson Jr. She and Chmerkovskiy danced a fusion and tango for the finale special.

Throughout the competition, Hernandez faced few challenges when it came to performance, but struggled emotionally when she learned that her beloved grandmother passed away just last week.

Hernandez danced a tribute to her late grandmother and, before she passed, promised to bring home the Mirror Ball. Her grandmother must be smiling down at this great accomplishment.

“I just want to thank everyone for their support and riding along this crazy roller coaster of my life,” she told Tom Bergeron after she was announced as the winner.

Chmerkovskiy took to Instagram with a sweet message to his partner.

“Los Angeles, CA because from the moment we met this was the only thing I wanted to do. For three months we worked hard, stayed focused, and most importantly stayed grateful. You did it kid. We did it! Love you forever and ever. #TEAMVALAUR #DWTS #champs”

Hernandez also shared some pleasant words about her experience on the show. She thanked Chmerkovskiy, friends, family and fans for their support.
