Miss Arkansas was crowned as the newest Miss America on Sunday, but not before she answered a question about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Savvy Shields was chosen to conduct an onstage interview with Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas, who announced in August that she was a judge for the event asked her a question. “Hillary Rodham Clinton,” she began. “What do you think?”

Shields responded:

If you’re trying to be leader of the free world, everything you say and do matters, and all of your actions are held to a higher standard. And unfortunately, the media does love to sensationalize everything, and it’s hard to tell what is truth and what is truly scandal. I think going back at what my previous contestant said, both of these contestants have done a great job. Er, both of these candidates have done a great job in competing, but they also need to watch what they’re doing.

In a later moment, Shields said that the candidates needed to find a “compromise,” similar to the compromises on which the country was founded. She said that “both parties just seem to be yelling at one another.”

What a fair insight!
