The black in Black Friday is not supposed to describe something as dark as a horrendous altercation, but that’s exactly what happened when a man was shot at a mall in Memphis, Tenn.

Chaos rang out with gunfire at about 11:19 p.m. in the parking lot outside the food court area of Wolfchase Galleria mall. Police told the Memphis Commercial Appeal that the victim was hit by gunfire along with multiple cars. Witnesses told WREG in Memphis that the suspect fired several shots then drove off in a red Ford Mustang.

Three people are in custody, police said.

The mall opened at 6 p.m. Thursday to kick off holiday sales.
