As a week of celebration and gratitude began on Nov. 21, country superstar Blake Shelton was busy on Twitter… apologizing.

“I’m very sorry I couldn’t be there this year,” Blake said. “I hope I get that chance again.. Still can’t believe it. Thank you!!”

Of course, Blake was speaking of the American Music Award he took home just the night before for favorite country male, a fan-voted award that his fans worked hard to get for him.

“I know it takes time and effort to vote for someone on awards shows and I want y’all to know I truly appreciate it,” he continued. “Thank you.”

It was Blake’s second AMA (he won the same title back in 2011) and his fourth nomination in the category. “This has been such a special year for me and the fans have been there all along,” said Blake in a press release about the win. “From the success of ‘If I’m Honest,’ to the tour and now this is award, it is because of the fans and I’m so thankful. Y’all are the best!!”

And of course, in true Blake fashion, he was eager to make it up to his fans for not being there in person to accept the award. In fact, Rare Country birdies have told us that Blake will soon have a special surprise announcement for fans. Stay tuned to Rare Country for all of the details!
