“We will deliver a big victory in the House tomorrow, and then this fight will move over to the Senate where it belongs,” Speaker of the House John Boehner said at a news conference on Thursday, expressing his confidence that the Republicans plan to defund the president’s signature legislation will work.
The House will vote tomorrow on a stop-gap resolution to fund the government, but deny funding to Obamacare. After their vote, the resolution heads to the Senate where Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) have been vigorously campaigning to stop Obamacare by defunding it.
“I expect my Senate colleagues to be up for the battle,” Boehner said.
The speaker also reiterated that the GOP has “no interest” in defaulting on U.S. debt, an issue that will present itself after the budget debates.
