Brantley Gilbert celebrated five years clean and sober last December, but he knows his addictions are always there waiting to wreck him again if he doesn’t work on his sobriety. That’s why he called his new album, “The Devil Don’t Sleep.” Over the years, Brantley has learned its dangerous to let down his guard when it comes to fighting his demons.

On the latest installment of the Big Machine Radio podcast, Brantley says, ” My whole life, I’ll get to a point where I’m pretty good. I’m cruising, and then it’s straight rock bottom, and my rock bottom has a shovel at the bottom of it for some reason. I don’t know who put the sumbitch there.”

Thankfully, Brantley doesn’t have to fight those demons on his own. His wife, Amber, is there to both offer him support and call him out when he’s not taking care of business. That includes watching out for people who want to take advantage of Brantley’s success.
“I had a bad habit of getting in God’s way,” Brantley says of a recent situation in which some people were using him. “There were people around me who didn’t mind asking for things, and I didn’t mind giving. I was kind of like, ‘It’ll figure itself out. I’ll bail you out this time or I’ll help this time.'”

Amber wouldn’t allow Brantley to just passively let these people take advantage of him.
He adds, “That’s one of the things about my wife I love so much. She’ll call me out real quick.”
Of course, several of the songs on Brantley’s new album, “The Devil Don’t Sleep,” were inspired by his love affair with Amber. That project is due out January 27 featuring Brantley’s latest hit, “The Weekend.”
