Canadians sure know how to make ‘ya feel special. Our neighbors to the north started a “Tell America It’s Great” social media campaign complete with a website, Twitter account, hashtag, and YouTube video.
The messages of love have been flooding in, with Canadians tweeting about the greatness of America using the #TellAmericaItsGreat hashtag. Canadians praised Americans for our generosity, charitable giving, national park preservation, musical contributions, diversity, and rights for the disabled.
The campaign comes as Canadians feel Americans could “use some cheering up” amid the contentious political climate.
We’ve pulled some of the funniest and most heartwarming tweets from the campaign.
Americans have been giving back some love using the hashtag #TellCanadaThanks.
The video was created by the Garden Collective, a creative agency based in Toronto.
“Sometimes friends just need to look out for each other,” Shari Walczak, a founder of the agency, told The New York Times.
One could argue that the love fest between the nations is best defined by the budding bromance between President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Walczak said the campaign isn’t selling anything. Her company just wanted to make a positive contribution during this election season. But we suspect there may be a few more trips up north soon to check out Canada’s hospitality.
