Ask anyone with a pet and most of them will tell you that their four-legged friends are as much members of their family as anyone else. Some include their pets in holiday cards, celebrate their birthdays and lovingly call them their “fur babies.”

Several country music stars consider their pets part of their families and even actively advocate adopting shelter pets and being a responsible pet owner. Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation is hinged on those practices, but Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood are also outspoken pet owners.
In fact, Carrie shared some sad news about her own precious pup, Ace, on Jan. 3. It appears that the rat terrier suffered a herniated disc before the holiday and was paralyzed in his back end for a short time. We aren’t certain if this happened while Carrie was on tour in Australia with Keith Urban or after she returned home, but it’s obvious that the country star was going to do all she could to restore her furry friend’s health.
In fact, in the Instagram video she shared, Ace, who now has full mobility on his right side, is going through physical therapy to get his left side up to full strength. And Carrie? She’s right there by his side. You can even hear her coaxing him along as he walks a treadmill in a water tank, taking the pressure off his weakened leg while the muscle is exercised.

Ace isn’t the only canine in the Underwood/Fisher household. The couple, with son Isaiah, also have a dachshund mix named Penny.
