René Angélil, beloved husband of Celine Dion, has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

“René Angélil, 73, passed away this morning as his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” the rep for the couple announced in a statement. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment; more details will be provided at a later time.”

René was more than a husband to Céline. He was also her manager and respected mentor. He is survived by his wife and their three children: René-Charles, 14, and 5-year-old twins, Nelson and Eddy. René also had three adult children from a previous relationship, Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre.

René bravely fought cancer three times in his lifetime. Céline remained by her husband’s side and supportive until the end.
