EVANS, Ga. — A Georgia mother accused of having sex with two teenagers during a party that involved alcohol, pot and naked Twister says she’s remorseful about what happened.

Deputies say Rachel Lenhardt, 35, hosted the party and gave drugs and alcohol to her teenage daughter and her friends.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says Lenhardt’s Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor told authorities about the party.

An AA sponsor unrelated to the case said the organization focuses on telling the truth. He believes that’s why Lenhardt’s sponsor had no choice but to turn to police when Lenhardt allegedly shared details of the party with her.

“We believe in honesty,” he said. “Most likely the sponsor will guide the sponsee to go ahead and take care of the issue.”

The details laid out in a Columbia County incident report are disturbing. The AA sponsor claims Lenhardt opened up during a sobriety conversation about why she lost custody of her five children.

The report states Lenhardt told the sponsor that she allowed her 16-year-old daughter and friends to party at her Evans, Georgia home with drugs and alcohol.

“She was arrested for furnishing alcohol and marijuana to at least two 16-year-olds. That was not just what the AA sponsor told us, but what was told to us was also corroborated by witnesses that were in the home,” Capt. Steve Morris of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.

The report goes on to say Lenhardt played naked Twister in the living room, then had sex with an 18-year-old in the bathroom.

The sponsor says Lenhardt admitted to lewd acts in front of the group.

The incident report reads Lenhardt eventually fell asleep and woke up around 3:30 a.m. to find her daughter’s 16-year-old boyfriend having sex with her.

“The age of consent in Georgia is 16,” Morris said.

Lenhardt’s attorney released a statement saying that Lenhardt acknowledges that she acted inappropriately and is remorseful. In the statement below, her attorney also says many of the allegations are exaggerated.

“Mrs. Lehnardt acknowledges that due to recent alcohol abuse she engaged in several acts of inappropriate conduct.  Although, many of the allegations are exaggerated, she is extremely remorseful for what she allowed to occur in her presence and is obtaining professional and pastoral counseling to ensure that this conduct is never repeated.  Mrs. Lehnardt intends to fully cooperate with the legal system to accept complete responsibility for her conduct and to fully atone for her actions.  However, at not time did Mrs. Lehnardt sponsor or facilitate a party for underage minors.

Mrs. Lehnardt has recommitted herself to her faith and her family.  She is hopeful that her children, members of her faith and others will learn from her poor example as to just how easy it is for people to exercise such extremely poor judgment while intoxicated.

In regards to the connection this case has with Alcoholics Anonymous, Mrs. Lehnardt continues to participate in and strongly believes in the program.  She truly regrets any negative media coverage that this matter may have had on the organization.”
