Dear feminists, It is shameful to be a slut

Now that women have become CEOs of major companies, have become a dominant force in higher education, and have been on the presidential tickets of both political parties, feminists have set their aim on the last great frontier: the ability to look and act like a slut with impunity.

In a study designed to show how bigoted even women are against sluts, Tracy Vaillancourt, a psychology professor at the University of Ottawa, and a PhD student, Aanchal Sharma recorded the reactions of women when they were interrupted by the same woman who was dressed in two very different ways:

Half the participants were interrupted by a thin, blonde, attractive woman with her hair in a bun, dressed in a plain blue t-shirt and khaki pants, whom the researchers called “the conservative confederate. The other half found themselves in the company of the “sexy confederate,” the same woman, instead wearing a low-cut blouse, a short black skirt, boots, and her hair sexily un-bunned.

The researchers watched the reaction of the women for eye-rolls, body scans, or sarcastic laughing and rated them with same metric Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein used in their experiments: “bitchiness.”

Vaillancourt found women scoffed at the scantily clad woman more than the conservatively dressed woman. Apparently, women “are threatened by, disapprove of, and punish women who appear and/or act promiscuous.”

This demonstrates for the first time “slut-shaming in an experimental context” and is bad. Very bad.

“Studies show that if you change cognition, you change behavior,” says Vaillancourt. “This behavior causes harm. People become depressed if they’re attacked in this way.”

But don’t get confused. Vaillancourt doesn’t believe it’s bad for the women to dress in provocative, sexual ways. Exposing one’s breasts, according to feminists, is just like exercising our voting rights. Don’t question it. What needs to be changed is not sexual promiscuity or revealing clothing, but our response to it. After all, people have committed suicide after being called “whores” by their peers.

What to do?

First, we “bitches” need to adjust the way we feel about women who show their cleavage to our husbands.

Basically, we need to be okay with that.

Second, men need to stop, well, being men.

“The only way it might change is if men stopped valuing sexual fidelity and physical attractiveness in long-term mates,” says University of Texas psychologist David Buss.

Or, as The Atlantic more succinctly concluded, “Human nature can be such a bitch.”

Is there anything more useless – and actually harmful — than modern feminism? Since we’ve made so many cultural strides, they’ve now resorted to hand feeding us the single most destructive message to women: you can look and be sexually promiscuous without repercussion. This ignores the cold harsh reality that sexual promiscuity is really a one-way ticket to broken dreams, broken hearts, and poverty.

But who are we kidding?

Feminism has long since ceased to be about the well being of women.

Instead it’s about perpetual grievance, no matter how manufactured and no matter how much that sense of grievance harms the very women feminism purports to serve.
