Devastating news has come out about Mia Farrow’s son, Thaddeus Wilk

The son of actress Mia Farrow, Thaddeus Wilk, passed away from injuries sustained by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his torso, PEOPLE has confirmed.

Wilk, 27, was found inside his vehicle, having suffered a “life threatening injury,” according to a Connecticut State Police report.

After Farrow’s son was found on Wednesday, he was reportedly taken to the Danbury hospital, where he passed way at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.

According to the news outlet, Thaddeus was adopted from Calcutta, India, in 1994, 2 years after Farrow separated from Woody Allen in 1992.

Wilk was a paraplegic and contracted polio before being adopted by the movie star.

The 71-year-old actress released a statement on Thursday afternoon.

The statement read: “We’re devastated by the loss of Thaddeus, our beloved son and brother. He was a wonderful, courageous person who overcame so much hardship in his short life. We miss him.
