Uh oh. Egypt’s government — with the backing of its military — arrested the Muslim Brotherhood’s General Guide late Tuesday at his apartment in Cairo.
The military took Mohamed Badie prisoner on charges leveled in July that he had incited some of his followers to commit murder. His trial is set to begin August 25.
Egypt has been wracked with violence for the past two weeks as security forces crack down on Muslim Brotherhood protesters who have refused to participate in building a new government after the military deposed former president Mohamed Morsi, a Brotherhood member.
