There have been a number of milestones in Kane Brown’s career. From his first video that took off on YouTube to his first hit single to his first headlining tour, Kane has seen his career grow by leaps and bounds in the last couple of years.

But nothing seems quite as cool as getting talk show host Ellen DeGeneres’ attention.

That’s exactly what he did on Dec. 1, as Rare Country’s “New Artist of the Year” nominee made his television debut with a performance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” of his hit single “Thunder in the Rain.” The jaw-dropping performance came at just the right time for Kane, who will release his self-titled debut album on Dec. 2.

And while the country newbie seemed calm, cool and collected throughout the performance, he actually tweeted out that he was feeling anything but calm, cool and collected, saying that he was “literally scared to death.”

God knows he’s been getting much practice performing as of late, as Kane finds himself in the middle of his current “Monster Energy Outbreak Presents: Kane Brown Ain’t No Stopping Us Now Tour,“ performing cuts such as “Hometown” and “Used To Love You Sober.” And heck, if you’re lucky, you’ll even catch him doing a cover of “Check Yes and No.”

And to think we knew Kane way back when — even before the rest of the world took notice.

The Rare Country Awards honor the year’s best in country music as determined by fans. Cast your vote at RareCountryAwards.com.
