Fans went wild on Sept. 9 when Kid Rock and Jason Aldean co-headlined a concert at Fenway Park in Boston, along with openers Thomas Rhett and A Thousand Horses.

During the show, each star lit up the stage crooning hits from their set lists. They also pleased fans with a few surprises, too.

Perhaps the most shocking surprise of all came during Kid Rock’s patriotic performance of “Born Free.” A humongous American flag made for the ultimate backdrop to the anthem, as the legendary rocker worked the crowd with his raspy voice and dance moves.

But, it was mid-tune when Kid Rock paused for a brief moment to make an explicit comment about a certain someone — NFL Football player and 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

As you can see in the Instagram video above, the stage gets dim. Kid Rock breaks from singing and says the words, “Man, fuck Colin Kaepernick!” over the microphone. Those words probably stemmed from the athletes refusal to stand during the “Star Spangled Banner” at football games.

Needless to say, Kid Rock’s remark had thousands of fans cheering.

Some concertgoers, who were stunned over Kid Rock’s words, got on social media to tweet about what had just happened.

A few fans took to Twitter to voice their frustrations over the comment, too.

Of course, Kid Rock is no stranger to being rebellious. In fact, he proved that following the show. The star took to Twitter to reiterate the fact that he doesn’t sugarcoat his feelings. Along with a photo he wrote, “I could care less about what people think.”

The Fenway show is part of a two-night stint for Jason’s Six String Circus Tour. The four acts will take the stage at the same venue for another round of performances on Sept. 10.
