A Virginia man is in the news this week after making a promise to his daughter that she will never forget.
Garth Callaghan is dying of cancer and, though his prognosis is bleak, has vowed to complete four years worth of notes for his daughter’s high-school lunch.
Since Garth’s daughter, Emma, was in grade school, Garth has made sure to include an uplifting or pleasant note, written on a cocktail napkin, in Emma’s lunch every day.
With doctor’s giving him just an 8 percent chance to live the next 5 years, Callaghan is trying to complete 800 notes so that Emma never goes to school alone.
In the meantime, they have started napkinnotesdad.com, a website where readers can keep track of the inspiration and order an e-book collection.
