A 2-year-old boy was dragged into the water by an alligator at the Seven Seas Lagoon near Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Orlando, Fla., Tuesday night, officials say.
CBC News uploaded live video to Facebook from a news conference Wednesday afternoon to share the latest on the search for the toddler.
“This is a tough situation, I want all of you to think about this for a moment,” Jeremy Demings, of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.

“Those of you who have children or grandchildren or what have you. I just happen to have a 2-year-old grandson and so for me this is a very human experience that we’re talking about where we’re dealing with this family now, who there’s no question will lose a 2-year-old child.”
He said it’s been roughly 15 hours since the incident happened.
“We know that we are working to retrieve the body of the child at this point,” Demings said.
He said 50 people from Orange County Sheriff’s Office are also helping to find the child and that Disney closed all its beach areas to search.
“Disney is doing everything it can to make the family comfortable,” Demings said.
Demings mentioned that Disney has never encountered anything like this in 45 years.

Someone asked how long they are going to search.
“We are going to continue to search until we find the body. Hopefully that will be today, but if it has to extend beyond that we’ll do that as well,” Demings said.
He described the search as a “complicated operation.”
