Before they were stars, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina were just two kids chasing down a dream on “American Idol.” In addition to both being country singers, they were teenagers only a year apart. As the competition wore on and the field whittled down, these two remained.

On the last day of March in 2011, they paired up for a duet of “I Told You So.” First written and released by Randy Travis long before either of them were born, the two teens were much more aware of Carrie Underwood’s version that appeared on her album “Carnival Ride,” which she did with Randy Travis during her “American Idol” days.

Lauren and Scotty were a match made in heaven. Their voices effortlessly harmonized together like the fingers of two hands holding. Both singing with such passion and emotion, it was almost unfathomable to see the two baby faces producing such superstar vocals. Yet there they were, right in front of our eyes.
