Took them long enough!

Four months after Micheal Strahan left “Live! with Kelly” for a new full-time job with “Good Morning America,” ABC executives are finally talking about how they handled the situation.

Ben Sherwood, president of Disney-ABC Television Group, confessed to “making some mistakes” in handling the star’s exit.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sherwood spoke candidly about Strahan’s departure from “Live!” earlier this year.

“I have most definitely thought about it, and I think that enough has been said about it,” Sherwood said. “We made some mistakes, we fixed them quickly and we moved on.”

Sherwood continued, “I was on the set of ‘Live’ recently. The show is in great shape, Kelly [Ripa] is in a great place, the hunt for a new co-host is underway, the excitement is building, and I believe the future of that show is bright.”

The “Live!” set was full of drama when Strahan announced he would leave the program for a gig on “Good Morning America.” Upon hearing the news, Ripa promptly took two unplanned vacation days to process it. Strahan was set to stay on “Live!” until his “GMA” debut in September, but stepped down in May.

Strahan started at “GMA” full time on September 6.
