GOP county offices across North Carolina are being warned after a headquarters in Orange County near Durham was firebombed and vandalized overnight.

Hillsborough police are investigating the incident that occurred at the Orange County Republican Party Headquarters.

The building, at 347 Ja-Max Drive in the Shops at Daniel Boone, was targeted with hate graffiti and a flammable material was thrown through a front window of the headquarters.

“This highly disturbing act goes far beyond vandalizing property; it willfully threatens our community’s safety via fire, and its hateful message undermines decency, respect and integrity in civic participation,” Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens said.

The NC GOP will hold a press conference Sunday at 6 p.m. at their Orange County office.

Hillsborough police are still investigating.
