The movie stars Gene Kelly, Donald O’Conner and Reynolds and is iconic of the 1950s musical movie genre.

At the time of production, Reynolds was just 19-years-old and had yet to have her big break in Hollywood.

In a video tribute to her mother, actress Carrie Fisher explained how Reynolds energy and drive helped her keep up with her more established stars in the 1952 film.

“It looks easy because of my mother’s talent and her professionalism,” Fisher explains.

Throughout her career, Reynolds would continue to tour, and include songs from the film in her live act. One song that remained close to her for her entire life was the film highlight, “Good Morning.” In the wake of her passing, millions of people have flocked to view clips of the song, and remember Reynolds in high heyday.
